Enhancing Rose Cultivation in Ecuador Using Internet of Things-Based Monitoring Systems

Resumen

The implementation of IoT-based monitoring systems in rose cultivation in Ecuador has proven highly effective in improving crop quality and yield. This study focused on integrating advanced sensors, cloud-based data processing, and user-friendly visualization tools to create an automated system capable of real-time monitoring of environmental and nutritional variables. Key parameters monitored include temperature, humidity, pH levels, and light intensity, allowing for precise control and immediate corrective actions. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the management of cultivation conditions, leading to enhanced flower quality with better color, scent, size, and durability. Additionally, the system increased yield and resource efficiency, achieving a 15% increase in production, a 12% reduction in irrigation frequency, and a 10% decrease in fertilizer use, resulting in lower waste and operational costs. The successful application of IoT technology in rose cultivation highlights its potential to transform traditional farming practices, promoting sustainable and efficient agriculture. Future research should explore IoT applications in other crops and farming methods, and training programs should be developed to educate farmers on IoT benefits.
