Development of a Virtual Reality Environment Applied to Work in Cold Environments for the Reduction of Related Occupational Risks

Producción científica: Capítulo del libro/informe/acta de congresoContribución de conferenciarevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

The overall purpose of this paper is to develop a virtual interactive path designed for safety training inside cold chambers and pre-chambers based on good manufacturing practices using VR technology and 3D modeling. This manuscript offers a simulation of a refrigerated work environment, allowing users to identify and learn about related occupational risks to which they are exposed. Potential hazards are categorized using a risk matrix mainly focused on appropriate behavior in sub-zero industrial scenarios and correct use of personal protective equipment. Through the training, a significant improvement in participants’ safety precautions knowledge and understanding of risks is achieved, highlighting the potential of using virtual reality for their skill development.
