Data Augmentation Techniques Applied to Improve a Vitiligo Database

Resumen

Vitiligo is a pathology that causes the apparition of white patches in the skin, and there are multiple works where different techniques to diagnose, measure the quantity of the pathology, or to identify the existence of vitiligo. In this paper, we proposed a data augmentation technique based on superpixels to increase and optimize a dataset with 4723 images of skin with vitiligo, skin without vitiligo, background, and some other textures that could be used in real applications. Moreover, we also include binary vitiligo images where white represents pixels with vitiligo and black the other elements, and these images could be used in order to contribute to the research field of the vitiligo pathology.
