Control System for a Pneumatic Levitator Used as a Recreational Tool for Learning Musical Notes

Resumen

This paper presents a pneumatic levitation system based on air pressure to suspend objects without physical contact. An innovative approach was developed, where the height of the levitated object determines the generation of musical notes. Precise control of levitation is achieved through a PID controller that dynamically adjusts the air pressure to maintain a constant height. The system combines automation, musical exploration, and interactive education. By generating sounds through height adjustments of the levitated objects, it offers a unique tool for scientific experimentation and entertainment. Its modular design allows scalability and flexibility by adapting the number of levitators and adjusting control parameters. This research demonstrates that pneumatic levitation, precisely controlled by a PID system, can serve both as an educational tool and as a novel approach to musical entertainment. The system provides an intuitive and engaging experience, illustrating fluid dynamics and automatic control principles in an accessible way. On a practical level, the project addresses the need for interactive teaching methods that encourage student engagement in science and technology. The system has the potential to be integrated into museums, technology fairs, and STEM programs, promoting learning through hands-on interaction and discovery. The following sections detail the theoretical basis of the system, the prototype’s development, experimental tests, and results. A thorough analysis of the system’s stability, accuracy, and PID control efficiency is presented. Furthermore, its applicability in educational environments and potential for improving science teaching through playful interaction are evaluated, along with future improvements and research directions to expand its applications.
