Resumen
In Ecuador, the manufacturing sector plays an important role in the country's economy. Within this area, the manufacture of other types of transportation equipment is a strategic axis for industrial and technological progress, complementing and strengthening the growth of other productive sectors. However, despite its relevance, a lack of accurate and timely financial information has been identified for companies in this sector, leading to inadequate investment decisions, poor analysis and ineffective planning. This study analyzes the financial risk of 35 companies engaged in this activity, using information corresponding to the year 2023, obtained from the Superintendency of Companies, Securities and Insurance. For the analysis, the Z 1 and Springate models were used for this analysis. The results show that 26% of the companies are at high risk of bankruptcy according to Altman Z1, while 23% represent a critical risk according to the Springate model. It is concluded that a significant proportion of the sector faces worrying levels of financial fragility and faces important risks, so urgent measures must be taken to avoid the insolvency of these companies.
