Assessment of the Techno-Economic Feasibility of an Isolated Hybrid SPV, Wind, Diesel, Hydrogen and Battery System

Producción científica: Capítulo del libro/informe/acta de congresoContribución de conferenciarevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

Rural electrification is one of the pending tasks for many governments, the energy required by isolated communities is mostly covered by generators that run on fossil fuels, the difficulty of transporting the fuel, environmental pollution and volatile prices make it a non-viable option. In recent years, the implementation of hybrid renewable energy systems has had an important deployment due to their reliability in supply, however, the technical economic evaluation requires strategies to reduce the cost of energy. This work evaluates the technical-economic feasibility of a hybrid renewable energy system consisting of a photovoltaic generator, wind turbine, diesel generator, fuel cell, and a battery bank. The first activity is the comprehensive evaluation of the resources in the community of mass 2 in the Gulf of Guayaquil-Ecuador, the second activity is to know the optimal configuration of the system achieving the lowest cost of energy with a high degree of reliability within the accepted limits. The results of the work indicate that the optimal configuration of the system is made up of 20 kW in solar panels, 3.6 kW in wind turbines, 10 kW in diesel generator, the fuel cell is 9.8 kW and 55 batteries of 167 Ah, the lowest cost of energy for the proposed configuration is $0.331/kWh at a total system cost of $115,048.
