Resumen

© 2015 IEEE. In Ecuador there is a lot of electrical accidents especially to level residential, due to unknown of people in the electrical protection necessary for the human safety. Thus, most homes do not have protection systems to ensure the lives of people, this situation increases the probability that an electrical accident that results in the loss of life occurs. This work focuses on the behavior of electrical currents through the human body caused by direct contact with nominal voltages to which a person is exposed in their daily activities. Initially, an introduction about this topic is made. After that, a model of the human body and the effects of electric current on it is presented. Several simulations of the currents produced in the human body parts due to contact with residential, industrial and medium voltage levels is performed using the computer program Alternative Transient Program (ATP). The most important cases are explained in detail and presented by graphs. In addition a summary of the results are presented in a table, obtaining the most dangerous situations arise when the current enters through the head.
