Resumen

Telecommunications services provide a better quality of life for modern population. The constant use of radio frequencies allows human beings to be constantly communicated and allow to perform tasks anywhere without being limited to an immovable place. However, radio frequencies contribute significantly to the increase of electromagnetic field levels, making people concerned for possible health effects. In response to this uncertainty, evaluations and studies of electromagnetic fields are carried out globally, which have allowed to set basic restrictions and reference levels for human exposure to such fields. This manuscript presents a general public exposure study of electromagnetic fields in an 850 MHz frequency band, corresponding to 2G and 3G mobile technologies, and at certain time intervals, analyzing and comparing the significant differences and behaviors that these fields may have as time increases. The results indicate that different time intervals do not have significant variations, demonstrating there is no need for long-lasting measurements, even 2-minute measurements could be used without affecting the results, reducing the 6 and 30 minutes recommended by CENELEC and IEEE, respectively. Additionally, the values show that electromagnetic exposure limits set by both entities are met.
