Abstract

The Galapagos Archipelago is one of the most im-portant areas for biodiversity conservation. Multiple meteorolog-ical stations are distributed there, but there is no communication network available to extract the collected data. In this article, a wireless communication network was designed for San Cristobal Island to address the lack of communication network, enabling climate studies to mitigate agricultural productivity decline, crop loss, food shortage, and monetary losses. A study was conducted fulfilling the regulations within the Galapagos National Park for radio frequency links. Radiomobile was used as the design, simulation, and planning tool for the network. Finally, the results obtained by simulating four scenarios for the implementation of the wireless communication network are presented to select the most optimal one.
