¿Qué es la Teoría? Enfoques, Usos y Debates en Torno al Pensamiento Teórico

Theory is part of the academic common sense and is exercised in the university professorship almost always without taking into account its condition of abstract reality subject to continuous discussions and transformations. In order to account for its problematic and problematizable character, the authors address two questions: what is a theory, and what does theorizing consist of? In the quest for answers, they review, with rigor and detail, the most significant contributions from the philosophy of science and epistemology, as well as from cultural studies and the dialogue of knowledge. The trajectory achieved ratifies that theory unfolds in different ways, crossed by the permanent tension between thinking to know and thinking to live collectively; it has life beyond the research logic and becomes a theoretical practice when it is inserted in political projects. Written to contribute to university teaching, the book aims to promote meeting points and conversation between teachers, researchers and students from all areas of knowledge, offering them the possibility of naming their own theoretical praxis and situating them in the midst of other possible ones.
