Abstract

Introduction: Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) faces various challenges, including the lack of opportunities to apply modern methods and the inappropriate use of technological resources. This study explores the use of WebQuest as an educational tool to improve writing production in high school students. Methods: The research was conducted with two groups of 20 students each, at Unidad Educativa Liceo de Ciencias y Artes in Ecuador. The experimental group used WebQuest to develop writing skills, while the control group followed traditional methods. Pre and post tests were employed to evaluate performance. Results: The results indicated that the experimental group students scored significantly higher in writing production compared to the control group. The Z-score analysis showed a statistically significant difference, indicating more meaningful learning with the use of WebQuest. Discussion: The findings of this study are consistent with previous research suggesting that WebQuest can enhance motivation and writing skills. The implications for pedagogical practice include integrating WebQuest as an effective strategy for teaching writing in EFL. Conclusion: The use of WebQuest is effective in improving writing production in EFL students, providing a modern and technologically advanced approach to English teaching.
