Abstract

The leachate generated by the direct disposal of solid waste on the soil of terrace number one of the "Romerillos" sanitary landfill contaminates the environment and is visible up to an average distance of 20 m with the presence of dry vegetation cover showing leachate infiltration and contamination on the soil, on the surface and subway. While in the soil of terrace number one of the Ambato landfill, the contaminated environment is visible at an average distance of 33 m with the presence of dry vegetation cover. In both cases (Romerillos landfill and Ambato landfill) a quantification study of codified (Matlab) and spatial (ArcGis) variability of characteristics such as hydraulic load, pressure load, percentage of leachate was carried out. Field data collection was done for simulation in Matlab among which the variables infiltration velocity, porosity, infiltration distance, Van Genuchten parameters and time were used for 10 sampling points determined by GPS Navigator. Estimation graphs were created for each variable at times of 10, 20, 30 and 40 min. Through the observation of the graphs obtained in Matlab, it was determined that the hydraulic load variable is inversely proportional to depth, it was also established that the pressure load behavior is directly proportional to depth and for the leachate percentage case, a behavior inversely proportional to depth is observed. All the variables analyzed show normal behavior due to the type of clayey-loamy soil in the case of the "Romerillos" landfill and sandy loam in the case of the Ambato landfill.
