Abstract
The first results of the experience of the use of an instant messaging application -WhatsApp- as a means of communication between teachers and students; organization of academic and teaching-learning activities; personalized attention and resolution of doubts, etc., in the first weeks of the academic year 56 (May - September 2020) at the Guayaquil Campus of the Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador are collected. Based on the results of a survey, the usefulness and positive valuation of the use of WhatsApp for communication with students and the organization (in real time) of teaching-learning activities was determined, parallel and complementary to the use of media such as the LMS platform used by the university institution and the application for videoconferencing adopted by the same; possibilities were created for a positive follow-up of the subject and interaction.
