Abstract
University radio in Latin America has made it possible to bring academia closer to society through words and sound. Its consolidation is still in development, but with promising results at present. The research exposes the emergence of university radio in Latin America, its function and the current panorama of university radio in Ecuador. The methodology used is qualitative with descriptive and explanatory design, hermeneutic bibliographic review of previous studies, data analysis and non-participant observation. The results obtained show the growth of these media, exposed in the first map of Ecuadorian university radio stations and how Higher Education centers use radio as a tool in the teaching-learning process.
