Abstract
I met Cathy in 1999, when I entered the Universidad Andina to study in the Master's program in Latin American Studies. Cathy was not only one of the professors in the program, but also my thesis tutor and the person who interviewed me to apply for one of the scholarships offered by the University. From the first conversation I had with Cathy -and it was in the framework of the interview mentioned above- I could realize the affinity we had in several topics related to the educational field. At that time, I was reading some authors of the New Sociology of Education and, in particular, the central exponents of Critical Pedagogy: Henry Giroux, Peter McLaren, Michael Apple, and others. Apple.
