Abstract
Twitter and presidential elections: the candidacy of Guillermo Lasso, studies how in the midst of a social situation marked by health, economic and political factors, in May 2021, Guillermo Lasso reaches the presidency of the Republic of Ecuador, after an electoral campaign that turned to social networks in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. For this reason, the study compiles information that determines the digital communication strategies implemented in the electoral promotion, which allowed him to achieve the necessary votes. Based on an analysis of communication pieces published on Twitter and TikTok, the strategies implemented in the first and second electoral round are reviewed using critical discourse analysis as a basis.
