Abstract
The EIB program is a bachelor's degree program established in 1994, within the framework of the demands of the Indigenous population. As of July 2023, 1,471 students have graduated, 939 have completed a research project, and 532 have completed a comprehensive exam. In this study, the focus is on the research projects, from which a sample of 469 projects (the digitized ones) was determined. The guiding question is: to what extent has the academic production of EIB students, as reflected in their thesis projects, contributed to the interculturalization of higher education? To answer this question, the relevance of some key aspects of the research, such as topics, approaches, scope, geographical areas of study, forms of research work, and writing in their native language, is analyzed to promote the interculturalization of higher education. The findings show that the academic production of EIB students establishes some relevant criteria for interculturalization, among them, the selection of topics related to the educational and sociocultural context of the students and the rescue of collective work. However, they also make visible problems, for example, writing in the hegemonic language as the only means of epistemic transmission, in this case, Spanish, with few exceptions in Kichwa and Achuar.
