Translated title of the contribution: Tik Tok: Beyond Hypermediality

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

During the confinement produced by the Covid-19 pandemic, social networks played a predominant role in the media ecosystem. Emerging platforms such as TikTok received an unexpected boost in terms of number of registered users and frequency of use. TikTok's versatility has allowed it to diversify its purposes beyond entertainment, focusing on political and educational commercial purposes. In addition to an overview of TikTok from a communication perspective, this publication includes reflections on the media pandemic, its vulnerabilities, threats and issues - disinformation, infoxication and fake news - in a debate that seeks to prevent its recurrence in future crisis situations.
