Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve student performance by following the pedagogical model of the inverted class. The participants in this study were 19 students between the ages of 18 and 22 who are pursuing a career in systems engineering. The students are registered in the physics subject corresponding to the period 46 (April 2015 - September 2015) and the topic corresponds to the chapter work and kinetic energy. The procedure followed in this study was as follows: (1) At the beginning of the unit the students were evaluated with an entrance test. (2) The students formed groups according to their preference. (3) Instruction was presented using the pedagogical model of the inverted class. (4) The students were evaluated at the end of the unit using the exit test. (5) A satisfaction survey of the applied model was provided. The time spent teaching this unit under this learning model was 4 hours. In order to accept or reject the null hypothesis, the paired t-test was used. The results show that the students who are exposed to the pedagogical model of the inverted class significantly improve the acquired learning.
