Abstract
This research shows that the ease of access, adaptability, low costs and short implementation time give the guideline for the use of QR codes (Quick Response) as a tool that links the use of technology to the teaching-learning process. An experimental research is carried out, which is developed with students of the first semester of the Business Administration career of the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana Sede Guayaquil who were taking the subject Applied Informatics I during the academic period 48 (May-September 2016), ), where the selection criteria of the experimental groups had the greatest possible homogeneity. The tool includes a manual with the topics covered in the subject, to one of the groups the manual delivered contained printed QR codes, which when scanned by a mobile device allowed the student to access a video tutorial prepared by the teacher who taught the subject, another group access is done by typing a URL address and the third group is not assigned a manual. As a result, the group that received the teaching-learning tool with QR codes obtained a better academic performance, in addition to this, the students expressed their satisfaction of having had access to information of interest of the subject through a new tool for them.
