Abstract
The article addresses the presence of microplastics in mass consumption foods, highlighting their synthetic origin, nonbiodegradability and their impact on public health and the environment. A review of 25 global studies was conducted, focusing on foods such as sugar, beer, bottled water, crustaceans, salt, milk, honey and soft drinks. The methodology included searching Google Scholar and reviewing recent scientific articles. The results showed variable concentrations of microplastics in the foods analyzed, with alarming figures in products such as nori, bottled water and crustaceans. It highlights the need to control the production and management of plastics to reduce their impact on health and the environment.
