Abstract
Understanding the fan phenomenon and its possible forms of manifestation today is a topic of attention for social studies, especially because of the different approaches to the problem. The following research proposes an approach to certain fandoms in Guayaquil. To this end, we analyzed how the members of certain fan groups in the city of Guayaquil define themselves and what it means to be part of them. Surveys were applied to a sample of their members and they participated in different activities organized by the fan communities. It was found that they recognize themselves as small and large communities with objectives and plans to strengthen teamwork, contradicting various social stereotypes.
