Abstract
It is well known that the narration and the transfer of information has been something that has accompanied the developmentof humanity and is a fundamental part of its historical record, this practice that was initially oral, later it managed to be impregnated on paper and now with the help of the internet it is part of a large data network. The narration as such, managed to be formalized in the modern world in three fields: history, literature and journalism. The latter, closely linked to what Kovach and Rosenstiel (2012) refer to as the "instinct to be informed" which, as part of the evolutionary process of humanity, has given it security about its present and tranquility to plan its future, is considered as a exchange of fundamental information for the establishment of relationships in all areas of the social structure. We need information to live our own lives, to protect ourselves, to establish bonds, to identify friends and enemies. Journalism is nothing more than the means that society has created to provide us withthat information. That is why we care so much about the essence of journalism itself: both are of great importance for our quality of life, for our thoughts and for our culture. However, journalism does not arise only with the development of the printing press. Rather, it comes from the beginning of the 17th century, hand in hand with the conversations held in public spaces, in the cafes of England, which littlelater they would be known as pubs - or publick houses - in the United States. And it arises from the simple gesture of theowners of these places called "publicans" to ask their travelers the most important of theirtrajectories, and invite them to write it in the notebooks that they placed in the bars of their establishments. The first newspapers focused on the exchange of news generated in these cafes, as well as collecting the main social gossip, the political discussions of the moment and the curiosities that the sailors brought to be printed on paper. After understanding this dynamic of the first drafts From journalism it can be concluded that its main purpose is "to provide citizens with the information they need to be free and able to govern themselves". Or as James Carrey, a member of the Committee of Concerned Journalists, would say, it is possible that, finally, journalism is nothing more than a way of transmitting and amplifying people's conversations.
