Abstract
The evolution of journalistic culture in Ecuador, is a prominent issue for journalism. Government and society are the main protagonists of the historical context since it interferes with communicative development. This work aims to know the evolution of the communication professional in Ecuador since the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. The investigation is the second phase of a much more complex study on the journalistic cultures of Ecuador, criteria and experiences of journalists who practice the profession in the media of Ecuador will be analyzed, allowing an overview of the object of study from the empirical study analytical, based on the ethnographic perspective. Ethnographic techniques were used (field observation) that allowed to know the historical development of Ecuadorian journalism through contextual analysis. Different criteria were decoded to discover a vision of the professional before the established theme. The contribution of the study is to reflect the evolution of Ecuadorian journalism from an analysis of "yesterday" to understand the reason for its "today", facilitating an approach to the professional practice of contemporary communicators.
