This work exposes the results of an exploratory research of multimodal matrix, and responds to the line of research in social responsibility and citizenship of the career social communication of the Salesian Polytechnic University. It focuses on the study of television news consumption and the social perception of fear. In the approach to the object of study we worked with a sample of residents in the emblematic neighborhood Centenario of the city of Guayaquil. Theoretical methods of scientific research are used (analysis, synthesis, induction). Direct observation, in-depth interviews, documents from the Police Unit (sector 4) and a questionnaire were used to arrive at conclusions and recommendations.
