Abstract

© 2016 IEEE. This paper analyzes the design of a land station which purpose is download meteorological images by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) satellites. This process is performed through the combination of a software-defined radio (SDR), adaptive antennas on VHF band and Web & FTP servers for the remote analysis of the obtained images. The SDR maintains a connection in a specific hour, then the image is decoded and stored on an FTP server so that we can have access to these images on internet. The images may be used by worldwide institutes in order to have a clear meteorological monitoring and a real feedback using most devices, with the only purpose of getting an effective analysis and prevention of climatic events in the region.
