Abstract

The child or adolescent worker is a being with potential, a soul worthy of recognition for the courage he or she gives every day in the struggle for the survival of his or her family. He knows, learns, has concerns like any other young person. His worker is the means to overcome the shortcomings that bad development models have left him as an inheritance. He wants to get rid of this burden of poverty through his work and through his parents and siblings. This is the great teaching of the Centro del Muchacho Trabajador after half a century of accumulating experiences. Day by day we confirm with the students that their work is worthy and that, by assuming it, they are builders of their own development, economic protagonists of the fight against poverty from a different place than the one in which most of the institutions declare and plan their fight against poverty without mentioning anything about the concentrating accumulation of wealth.
