Abstract
The publication Memorias del simposio internacional de teología: desafíos éticos, tecnológicos y de la espiritualidad del siglo XXI gathers the academic experience of the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) in the understanding of faith and of that permanent search of the human being, which from reason tries to glimpse the mystery of divinity. It is the task of theology to give reasons for the truths that, through faith, the human being already possesses. Therefore, theology has as its object of study the experience of God in human life. The I International Theology Symposium (online modality) was a collective work, with the contribution of the Reason and Faith Area of the UPS, the Theology Career (online) of the UPS, the Franciscan Faculty of Philosophy and Theology Cardinal Echeverría of the UNISAL of El Salvador and the Don Bosco University of Brazil. All of them are institutions committed to the formation and research of faith as a human dimension. Initially, the intention was to carry out a theological dialogue at the university level, however, the timely intervention of Xavier Merchán motivated the participation of research groups from Cuenca and Guayaquil and promoted the First Theology Symposium as an event that is part of the academic proposals of the UPS. The Symposium was an academic event that counted with the direction of the Theology Research Group (GIT) and the contribution of academics whose theological reflections seek to express, in an analyzed way, the truths of the salt mystery.
