Abstract
This document presents a description of the Intelligent Semaphores system, as a mechanism for traffic control and transport in its general area, involved in the solution of traffic congestion problems in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador. An art study was carried out, which was carried out through the collection of information through arduous research and an analysis of the information obtained. Examples of different control devices currently in use are also presented. For the development of our system the use of one of the branches of Artificial Intelligence, which is the Artificial vision, is proposed, which, through the implementation of OpenCV’s own tools, will allow us to detect the number of vehicles accumulated in each street and in this way, decide or operate on our semaphores to allow vehicular traffic on the street designated as the most congested.
