Abstract
This article presents an optimization process of a rectangular patch antenna using Slime Mould Algorithm (SMA), which is a bio-inspired optimization method based on the behavior of slime molds. Algorithm fitness function was modified to search for optimization in relation to reflection coefficient S11 at a specific resonance frequency of 2.4 GHz. Variables to be optimized are length dimension of the patch, width of the patch, and length of the inserts made on the sides of the feed line. Results demonstrate that SMA can be used as a tool for optimizing rectangular patch antennas, with improved gain results in the antenna characteristics, notably better than the initial or other work presented in the literature.
