Abstract
The relevance of this research is highlighted, based on the alarming increase in insecurity in Ecuador. The objective was to determine the incidence of citizen insecurity on the financial situation of insurance companies. The study was quantitative in nature, non-experimental in design with a longitudinal section and correlational scope, using Pearson’s parametric correlation coefficient. The sample was made up of 25 companies, the data for the periods 2019-2023 were obtained from the website of the Superintendency of Companies, Securities and Insurance (SCVS) and processed in the SPSS program. The results revealed a very high correlation between insecurity and variables such as current liquidity, security ratio, asset turnover and credit risk, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 1. In contrast, a weak negative correlation was observed between insecurity and economic profitability, with a coefficient of -0.177. In conclusion, insecurity affects the financial situation of companies in the insurance sector.
