Abstract
This article presents a preliminary study for the installation of an automated system of public lighting based on solar energy with an energy saving approach within a housing complex located in the Valley of the Chillos-Ecuador in order to benefit 30 families. The work was carried out in three stages: online surveys, system programming and schematization of the system in 1: 100 model. The surveys helped to know the behavior/use of lighting by people, followed by the programming of the system helped to determine the materials to be user and finally the construction of the model, making a schematic step by step to follow in such a way that it serves as a base to be replicated in other regions. In addition, direct radiation data was taken into account, obtaining as a result that the provinces of Pichincha and Loja are the most adequate to have a high efficiency in solar energy. With the final results, a detailed analysis was carried out in two axes: economic and environmental, economic both to show that with a low investment the system and the environment can be implemented to stop relying on conventional energies.
