Abstract

Taking into account the environmental problems that are currently faced, a high interest has been aroused in developing and implementing practices that encourage the rational use of energy in both industrial and residential areas. This situation makes it necessary to carry out studies on energy consumption and demand in each of these areas, to identify the sectors with the highest consumption and design solution strategies that point to the best way to address the aforementioned problem. In the residential area, it has been shown that the refrigerator is the appliance with the highest energy consumption, representing 32.09% of the total consumption specifically in Colombian homes [1], therefore in the domestic refrigeration industry the development of equipment with high efficiency, low energy consumption and that are environmentally friendly.
