Abstract
In Latin America, journalism is going through one of its most critical stages. Violence, censorship, institutional abandonment and the precariousness of the profession have turned the exercise of journalism into an act of daily resistance. Threatened. The Future of Journalism in Latin America includes a collective and urgent reflection on the multiple challenges facing the press in the region, from physical and symbolic aggressions to structural obstacles that prevent access to the truth. Far from falling into pessimism, this book also documents the forms of resilience that emerge in the midst of risk: voices that refuse to be silent, initiatives that reinvent communication from the community level, and efforts to make visible what power wants to hide. It is a powerful testimony to how journalism, even in its most adverse conditions, continues to be a vital tool for the defense of human rights and democracy. . Threatened is an invitation to look a complex reality in the face, but also to recognize the strength of those who, with courage and commitment, are committed to continuing to tell what others prefer to silence.
