Abstract
This article, based on a compilation and analysis of primary sources (field interviews, testimonies, and official reports), examines how illegal mining in Ecuador, protected by state and corporate structures, violates indigenous rights and generates socio-environmental conflicts. The author highlights "shadow mining," a system that evades regulations while devastating ancestral territories. Through specific cases, he reveals the complicity of authorities and the resistance of indigenous communities, emphasizing the urgency of protecting their collective rights. This is essential reading for understanding clandestine extractivism and its impacts in Latin America.
