Abstract
Latin American popular culture is the setting in which diverse traditions, practices and beliefs are mixed, since the colonial era. The religiosity of the Iberians and Romans, of the primitive Christians, the Visigoths and the Muslims of the conquerors, will meet the religiosity of the Amerindian groups. This encounter, called syncretism, between Hispanics and Amerindians, will create a particular, magical universe rich in nuances, where completely disparate divinities and beliefs commune.
