Abstract

In times of confinement, the use of social networks is formalized as the main opportunity for leisure, while at the same time, online learning platforms are seeking to take the lead in the teaching niche neglected by the face-to-face modality, both generating benefits of synchrony, interaction, traceability and simultaneity, but also prescribing risks for users. As is well known, social networks have been associated with negative consequences, including "depression, attention deficit syndrome with hyperactivity, insomnia, decrease in total hours of sleep, decreased academic performance, grade repetition and school dropout" (Arab, and Diaz, 2015, p.10), in addition to those mentioned, it has also been evidenced "addiction, access to inappropriate content, bullying or loss of privacy (Echeburúa, and De Corral, 2010, p. 92). In sum, multimedia environments are not entirely negative, in fact, Przybylski and Weinstein (2019) have shown that violent video games have no correlation in the aggressiveness of young people, also, it has been found that the use of social networks enhances creativity, artistic skills, in turn encourage effective communication and the use of location-based services (Singh, Amiri and Sabbarwal, 2017).
