Abstract

The role of the information technology department is crucial in facilitating the labor market integration of individuals with disabilities. While technological accessibility promotesinclusion, challenges persist, including a lack of accessible products and services and insufficient awareness among employers. This research aimed to identify the responsibilities assigned to the IT department within organizations regarding technological adaptation and to assess the level of knowledge that employees possess about these responsibilities. Utilizing a descriptive and quantitative methodology, a survey was conducted with 50 employees from both public and private sectors through Google Forms. The findings reveal that while 90% of respondents believe that technological adaptations fall under the purview of the IT department and 58% have gained knowledge in this area, only 12% have implemented software adaptations, and just 8% have made hardware modifications. This can be attributed to the fact that 56% reported not having employees with disabilities within their organizations, highlighting the need to strengthen inclusive policies and encourage the practical application of these adaptations in the workplace. Accessible technology is essential for labor inclusion, but further efforts are necessary. Raising awareness among employers and providing training on accessibility to IT staff are critical steps. Inclusion requires collaborative participation from human resources, department heads, and all employees.
