Abstract

Power systems are threatened by various factors that affect the continuity of electricity supply, the economy and people; extreme events, whether due to climate change or natural disasters, identified as low-probability but high-impact risks, have caused major blackouts worldwide. Resilience is an aspect that defines the ability of power systems to recover from disturbances of either short or long duration. Transmission line switching is addressed to increase system resilience and reduce total costs in the context of economic dispatch. It highlights the aspects considered in the publications that cover the subject of resilience in electrical systems, transmission line switching under N-1 contingency evaluation scenarios, and transmission expansion planning, understanding the approaches of different authors and their conclusions. In the technical literature reviewed, the scope of their results is visualized in order to direct them for the study of the Optimal Restoration of the Operation of Electric Power Systems through Transmission Line Switching. It is determined that the starting point is the optimal DC power flow (DCOPF), finding the best solution and above all the minimization of the total dispatch costs.
