Abstract
In 2018, a new law for the eradication of gender-based violence came into force in Ecuador that emphasizes reparations. In this article we propose to investigate the conceptions around reparation in the national regulations, as well as to evidence the transformations in the attention to victims of gender-based violence in the country. The analysis is oriented towards the objective of identifying the obstacles and challenges presented by the application of the new law at the local level. In conclusion, the need for greater institutionalization of the reparation processes for victims in a context in which these fall mainly on non-governmental organizations with scarce resources or local governments is pointed out.
