Abstract

The article aims to reflect on the philosophy of technology in the educational processes of the current context and to respond to the intended objective, it has been deemed convenient to present a conceptual approach to the philosophy of technology, explain the philosophical foundations and some elementary characteristics that justify its presence; also, a brief historical tour of the emergence of technology from the technique present since the beginning of humanity is made; in addition, the perceptions of university teachers and students (from the city of Quito) about technology in the educational process are socialized; and finally, a reflection is made about the challenges of the philosophy of technology in current education. In the social-historical evolution, human beings have developed skills and abilities, and have found different cognitive, technical and technological ways to transform the world, to improve living conditions and to respond to the new demands of the context in which they live. In today's society, the presence of the philosophy of technology becomes indispensable to understand the meaning of technological reality and its implications in all areas of human existence.
