Abstract

This academic paper, tells about the life, work, career of Armengol Barba and the loss of national music, in this context it is pointed out that knowledge and study of traditional Ecuadorian music is essential in conjunction with the artists who have contributed and have given a significant value for its validity through time. The aim of this research is to analyze the life and work of Armengol Barba as a referent of traditional Ecuadorian music through a biographical-narrative method of qualitative research because it seeks to answer the questions raised during the interview. With this handle, the pasillo at the Latin American level came to light by great composers and singers recognized such as Armengol Barba because at any country that he visited the people asked him to sing a verse of the Ecuadorian music, that's why he is a reference of the Ecuadorian identity for its nostalgic songs inspired by just observing what happens around you to start composing them. And this is how he managed to position himself as one of the main ambassadors of this genre internationally because his name is in a book where the best Ecuadorian composers are.
