Abstract
Ecuadorian university radio reflects a diverse reality in a digital communicational context: The vertiginous rise of ICT, the mediatization of contents, transmedia narrative structures, new audiences and forms of participation require educommunication as a paradigm to develop formative and learning contents at the service of the community. From this perspective, university radio stations face challenges and challenges in terms of operability and productive routines, in contrast to traditional radio, orienting their actions to generate content from the academy for a critical reception at the service of the community, in inclusive, democratic and participatory environments. However, the presence and trajectory of this media is incipient and public policies in the field of communication make it impossible for it to have a greater space for visibility. With this background, a descriptive research with a qualitative approach is proposed, through a non-probabilistic sampling by convenience in three university radio stations in Ecuador in order to carry out a comparative analysis of their contents and form of transmission. The data collection is developed through the snowball technique, using a validated and reliable questionnaire. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with professionals so that they could contribute to the topic from their empirical and academic background. The evidenced results establish the need to strengthen university radio stations with their own characteristics as a new paradigm of alternative and participative communication.
