Abstract
Starting in 2007, important changes began in the academic structure of higher education in Ecuador, with the objective of evaluating universities and establishing regulations that regulate their correct performance, through the Organic Law of Higher Education — LOES—, Career and Ranking Regulations for Professors and Researchers—issued by the Council of Higher Education, CES—and the Academic Regime Regulations (also from the CES). They include not only the requirements to be a university teacher in Ecuador, but also the opening for each HEI to put into effect the paradigm that Communication Teachers must remain active in the performance of their profession.
