Abstract

Ecuador, like the rest of Latin America, was affected by COVID-19 in February 2020. In fact, the first case of infection was reported on February 29, and since then, the number of infections and deaths has grown exponentially. As of August 21, the country had 97,525 confirmed cases of infection and a total of 6,248 deaths due to the virus (Servicio Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos y Emergencias, 2020).
