Abstract

For many of us, psychotherapy is a way of life. Among all the possible reasons that converged in the decision to dedicate ourselves to this area, probably the interest in helping others to alleviate their suffering has a central place; and, to achieve this end, it is not only necessary to have training, but also the ability to transform it into learning for current and future life. Despite this motivation, from our first encounters with subjects that dealt with this subject, we were assailed by the doubt: Will what I study serve to help others? Will my actions have a real positive impact on people's quality of life? The ghost of the charlatan or the smoke seller crossed our minds, while we delved into the study of convoluted theories and with little landing in therapeutic action.
