Abstract

Santa Ana de los Ríos de Cuenca was declared Cultural Heritage of Ecuador on March 29, 1982. Its historic center and its historic areas integrate an architectural complex with a large number of heritage buildings. Subsequently, UNESCO on December 1, 1999 designates Cuenca as Cultural Heritage of Humanity for the conservation of the original grid of the Historic Center, also considered the use of building materials such as: stone, adobe, tapia, wood, bejuco (INPC, 2017). It is worth noting that, for the year 2017, the Municipality of Cuenca with its Directorate of Historical and Heritage Areas recovered seven heritage houses, these being: The Old Central School, Casa Marquez, Casa de las Posadas, Casa el Alfarero, Casa de la Lira, La Quinta Bolivar and Casa del Artista.
