Abstract
The development of an isolated community is linked to access to essential services, including electricity. Nowadays, the use of hybrid systems of renewable energies is a feasible solution to the energy problem, an isolated community in the Gulf of Guayaquil that is made up of 1 2 houses is taken as a case study, currently, they have solar panels; however, the energy generated by these equipment is limited for the consumption habits of the inhabitants of the region. The meteorological variables of the place were analyzed to present different configurations between solar panels, wind turbines, diesel generators, and a battery bank. The optimal system consists of an 8 kW photovoltaic generator, a 2.9 kW diesel generator, and a battery bank comprising five units of 95 A h / 12 V. The comparative analysis between the initial configuration made up of GF/GW/GD/BB and the optimal GF/GD/BB results in a difference of 23729 in favor of the second proposal, the simulations were carried out in the HOMER software, the total cost of the 25 years of the project is 40,266.95 dollars, the operating cost is 2,483.94, and the cost of energy is 0.47 per kWh, the unsatisfied load is 0 %, with a renewable production of 78.5 %. The proposal offers high reliability of the service and is adapted to the needs of users in isolated communities.
