Proposal for the Regularization of the Interior Electrical Installations in Hospital Centers, Case Study in the Guadalupe Specialty Clinic

The construction of hospital facilities faces critical challenges, notably the lack of standardization in electrical connections, a shortage of trained personnel, and the absence of a regulatory body. The absence of clear standards can lead to electrical risks, impacting the safety of individuals and infrastructure. The proposal addresses these issues by formulating standardization for hospital electrical installations, aiming to ensure safety and service quality. The lack of a competent authority complicates the implementation of uniform standards. This text was crafted with a driving motivation to address the critical challenges facing the construction of hospital facilities, particularly in the realm of electrical installations. Our aim is to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals within healthcare environments. The project aims to benefit electrical engineers, universities, and companies by proposing standards that enhance the reliability of hospital electrical installations. The work reviews international regulations such as NFPA and IEC and proposes specific objectives, including the certification of electrical installations in hospitals. The importance of having professionals familiar with regulations is emphasized, along with the dissemination of these guidelines among those responsible for electrical maintenance in hospitals. It is worth noting that the case study was conducted at Guadalupe Specialties Clinic located in the city of Cuenca. Ecuador.
