Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

Abstract

Evaluating the probability of bankruptcy of companies that were incorporated in the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic is interesting considering that they were created in the midst of a situation of uncertainty. The research was based on analyzing the financial situation of 52 companies, determined according to the statistical sampling for the year 2020, the year of the beginning of the pandemic outbreak in Ecuador, using the Altman Z-Score Model. Among the main results it is observed that 64% of the companies evaluated are in the high bankruptcy zone, 9% present a low probability of bankruptcy, in other words, they are in the risk zone and 27% of the companies analyzed refer to companies that are in the healthy zone. Finally, these results allow us to conclude that companies incorporated at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic have a high probability of bankruptcy due to low levels of profitability.
